CFPA VOLUNTARY INDUSTRY STANDARD

Private Market Reporting Standard (PMRS)

Version 1.0   |   October 2026

A common reporting format to help investors consolidate private-market holdings, track cash flows and use their data across platforms.

Reports from multiple platforms flow through the voluntary PMRS format into a consolidated portfolio view.

What is PMRS?

The CfPA Private Market Reporting Standard defines how platforms structure and export investment, payment and performance data in a consistent, spreadsheet-readable format. Shared field definitions and formatting help reduce the work of reconciling different platform exports.

Led by Paul Lovejoy, CfPA’s Investor Committee Chair, with contributions from the Investor and Intermediary committees, v1.0 is built for Reg CF and Reg A offerings and designed for use across the broader private market.

Adoption is voluntary. PMRS does not create a new regulatory reporting obligation or replace required securities disclosures.

Who is it for?

  • Platforms and reporting teams: a consistent structure for investment-data exports.
  • Investors and advisers: a shared format for consolidating holdings and tracking cash flows.
  • Portfolio-tool providers and custodians: common definitions for importing and using private-market data.

What does v1.0 cover?

Loans, revenue-share notes, operating company equity (including common and preferred shares, SAFEs and convertible notes), real estate equity, and funds with a published net asset value.

The standard defines four related CSV files. Platforms export the files relevant to each instrument:

FILE 01

Portfolio

one row per investment; used for all instrument types.

FILE 02

Payment Schedule

scheduled payments for debt.

FILE 03

Payment History

payment and distribution events for all instrument types.

FILE 04

Payment Year Schedule

tiers for revenue-share notes with time-based percentages.

Get started

  1. Read the specification to identify the files and fields that apply to your instruments.
  2. Use the data dictionary to map your source data and distinguish required, conditional, nullable and calculated fields.
  3. Compare your exports with the fictional sample and check identifiers, dates, blank values and cross-file consistency.

Wefunder and Climatize are reviewing the standard for adoption.
